In 1961, the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) was organized to create an educational complex of institutions ranging from pre-elementary to postdoctoral education to invent, implement, evaluate, and disseminate innovative practices in all areas. The SFEC has evolved over the years. Currently, the SFEC has five member institutions: Broward College, Florida Atlantic University, McFatter Technical College & High School, Nova Southeastern University, and the University of Florida. The SFEC partners closely with the Town of Davie and Broward County Public Schools.
The SFEC is a 501(c) 3 corporation. The mission of the organization is to improve the quality of life in South Florida through education, research, and public service. The principal purposes of the SFEC are:
– To provide a forum for communication and cooperation among member institutions.
– To create and further an awareness of education and research opportunities to the public.
– To advance the education and professional expertise of SFEC members.
– To address community needs through long range planning.
