In 1961, the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) was organized to create an educational complex of institutions ranging from pre-elementary to postdoctoral education to invent, implement, evaluate, and disseminate innovative practices in all areas. The SFEC has evolved over the years. Currently, the SFEC has five member institutions: Broward College, Florida Atlantic University, McFatter Technical College & High School, Nova Southeastern University, and the University of Florida. The SFEC partners closely with the Town of Davie and Broward County Public Schools. The SFEC is a 501(c) 3 corporation.
The mission of the SFEC is to establish synergistic collaborative programs and initiatives uniting our students, faculty and staff in the SFEC community, to help improve the teaching and learning environment and experience for all. The principal purposes of the SFEC are:
– To provide a forum for communication and cooperation among member institutions.
– To create and further an awareness of education and research opportunities to the public.
– To advance the education and professional expertise of SFEC members.
– To address community needs through long range planning.
